A good original First World War period 'Athletes' Volunteer Force 1914 Volunteer Training Corps lapel badge'; blue enamel gilt oval title surround, depicting crossed rifles to centre on seeded ground; the reverse impressed with unusual maker's details 'W.J.Carroll London'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, enamel intact, gilt finish remains bright.
