A scarce original Second World War period example worn by a worker in the 'P.B.Cow Ltd Factory London', in the form of a chromium plated shield depicting a barrage balloon over a silhouette of St Pauls Cathedral and Battersea Power Station with Latin scroll below 'Sursum Corda' (Lift up your hearts); the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd, Regent St, Birmingham'. Very good condition, original buttonhole lapel replaced with pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, very minor scratches only. Height 26mm.
'P.B.Cow & Co' factories were in Streatham, Stanmore and Slough, they specialised in the production of rubber and plastics equipment for the Royal Air Force including Barrage Balloons. A logo advertisement appears in Flight International Magazine on the 25th July 1940.
