A scarce original circa 1940's 'Young Men's Christian Association YMCA British Boys for British Farms lapel badge'; large circular oxidised silver plated example, title surround inlaid with blue enamel, red triangle to centre, with embossed boy riding farm horse within; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St Birmingham' and official issue number '4456'. Good condition, minor service wear to enamel and silver plating.

YMCA British Boys for British Farms formed in 1932 was seen as a means of introducing unemployed young boys from towns to the way of life in the countryside and to boost the country’s agricultural production both before, during, and after the Second World War. It was supported by the National Farmers Union, the War Agricultural Committee, and the Ministries of Agriculture and Labour. The scheme ended in 1968.
