A scarce original early post 1953 period 'Royal Air Force motor car badge', chromium plated Elizabeth II Crowned laurel wreath with 'RAF eagle' and 'Per Ardua Ad Astra' scroll mounted to an enamelled disc, these being the colours of the Royal Air Force, maker’s details “J.R.Gaunt London Made in England” to front base. Very good uncleaned condition, enamel intact, very minor nick below scroll left, otherwise an excellent example

Jaguar Motor Car circa 1930's SS Car Club 'Founder' badge by J.Fray Ltd. Birmingham.

A rare original circa 1930's 'SS Car Club Founder badge', chromium plated example depicting the stylized letter symbol of the 'Swallow Sidecar Company' known as 'SS Cars Ltd' and 'SS Jaguar', the reverse bearing maker's details "J.Fray Ltd. Birmingham". Good uncleaned condition, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, general wear commensurate with road use, chromium plate with corrosion worn down to the brass in places. An undoubtedly genuine untouched sleepy badge.

In 1945 the company changed its name to Jaguar Cars Ltd, because of the connotations of the use of the SS name by Nazi Germany.

WW1 National Motor Volunteers, Volunteer Training Corps Officers' Service Dress Bronze Cap Badge by J.R.Gaunt.

A scarce original First World War period die-cast bronzed V.T.C. cap badge, 'Mercury' the winged messenger of the Gods mounted on a spoked motorcar wheel resting on ''Pro Patria'' scroll, the tyre inscribed 'National Motor Volunteers', the reverse with maker's details "J.R.Gaunt London". Very good condition retaining original two blade fittings to reverse.

The 'National Motor Volunteers' was formed in London in early 1916 primarily to transport soldiers arriving in London at night after the buses and Underground had stopped. A year later it became a nationwide organisation and part of the Volunteer Training Corps (later Volunteer Force) - the WW1 equivalent of the Home Guard. It was now used for transporting Volunteer battalions, evacuating hospitals in the event of an emergency and assisting in the aftermath of air raids. In July 1918 it became part of the ASC and was retitled ASC Mechanical Transport (Volunteers). It was solely for home defence and never served overseas.

A very fine and very rare gold and enamel pass for the 'Car and General Insurance Corporation Ltd', bearing the ornate company emblem hand painted in fine enamels, the reverse and chain links bearing London 18 carat gold hallmarks for 1917, maker's details "GK&S" (G.Kenning & Son) and inscribed "Car & General Registered 1903".
