A very good clean full sized unnamed gilt medal as issued in 1920, the obverse with Red Cross within laurel wreath and surrounding title "British Red Cross Society For War Service: 1914-1918", the reverse with maker's details "J.R.Gaunt London" and Latin motto "Inter Arma Caritas" (In War, Charity). Very good mint condition, complete with original silk ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings, complete with its original presentation box with coloured details to the front, also in mint condition.

Florence Nightingale Medal Award by Huguenin Locle.

A rare original sparingley awarded 'Florence Nightingale Medal'; silver gilt elliptical example inscribed to the surround "Memoriam Florence Nightingale 1820-1910 AD", the embossed centre depicting "The Lady with the Lamp" during the Crimean war, where she gained the nickname; the reverse inscribed to the recipient "Melle Ethal Ellen Hutchings 12 Mai 1951". Suspended from an enamelled closed laurel wreath with red cross to the centre and original silk ribbon threaded through and bearing Swiss maker's details "Huguenin Locle" "925" (Silver). Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect, retaining all of its gold plated finish, ribbon a little fragile. Housed in its original green velvet lined fitted leather case with corresponding maker's details to the inside lid.
Height 77mm.

Instituted in 1912 by the International Committee of the Red Cross and awarded on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birthday to trained nurses, matrons, nursing organisers for distinguished or exceptional service.

Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings, complete with its original presentation box with coloured details to the front, clean condition, minor service wear. Pencilled name "Nurse Crocket Hounslow" to back of card support and Box of Issue.

Attributed to Nurse Miss Marion MacGregor Crocket, it is the only Red Cross Volunteer with this surname. She volunteered for service on the 29th September 1916 and served at the 2nd 'Northern General Military Hospita'l and later '19th Military Hospital Reading', this being her home town. She resigned on the 2nd April 1919.

Thomas Warwick Tiplady worked at the Bakewell Gas Works and volunteered for Red Cross Menís Detachment in November 1914. His war service was local serving as a Section Leader, undertaking night orderly duties at local hospitals, air raid patrols and preparing for lectures. He was discharged in April 1919 having completed 842 hours work
