A scarce original early oxidised silver plated badge with green enamel for "The National Nursery Examination Board 1945", the reverse with maker's details "J.R.Gaunt London" and impressed with official issue number "17155". Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Height 26mm.

'The National Nursery Examination Board' was founded in 1945 and merged in 1994 along with the 'Council for Early Years Awards' to become 'The Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education'.

A good original example of "The National Nursery Examination Board 1945" nurse's badge, the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1975 and maker's details "Thomas Fattorini Regent St Birmingham". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings with safety roller catch in good working order, enamel perfect, an excellent example.
Height 28mm.

St.Anne's Nursery College Trained Nanny Badge, Pittville Circus, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

A scarce original circa 1920's period 'St.Anne's Nursery College nanny badge'; from a navy blue silk ribbon depends a gilt metal shield, highly enamelled and bearing a Cross with the letters "S.A.N.C" and central spray of lilies with Latin motto scroll below "Beati Mundo Corde" (Blessed are the pure in heart). Very good condition, enamel perfect, gilt remains fresh, original silk ribbon now fragile and with raw edge.
Height of badge 33mm.

'St.Anne's Nursery College was organisation for training nannies. It was situated at 'Pittville Circus, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire' between 1912 -1935. The letters S.A.N.C which not only stood for the name, formed the first syllable of Sanctus, holy reminding the members that their work was dedicated.

All Saint's Nursery College Harrogate, 1947 Hallmarked Silver Nurses Badge.

A superb quality silver and enamel badge, the obverse depicting an infant in swaddling clothes, the suspension bar with Latin motto "Serviendum Laetandum" (in joyful service) and the reverse stamped in relief "All Saint's Nursery College Harrogate" also bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1947 and maker's details "J.F" (James Fenton & Co). Excellent condition, original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel and complete with safety chain.
