Amy Johnson England to Australia circa 1930 aeroplane song badge.

A scarce original circa 1930's 'Amy Wonderful Amy song badge' in the form of her pioneering aeroplane 'Jason' in gilt and blue enamel, the reverse with maker's details "Miller 118 Branston St B'Ham" and "Reg 755555". Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect except for one stress line between M and Y, visible only with a magnifying glass.
Length 28mm.
Width 26mm.

In 1930 Amy Johnson became the first woman to fly solo from Croydon South of London to Darwin Australia, flying her "Jason" Gipsy Moth aeroplane, these badges were sold as commemorative souvenirs, also given away with the song sheet, of the very popular tune at that time "Amy Wonderful Amy".

A scarce original circa 1930's 'Cobham's Flying Circus souvenir badge'; gilded brass aeroplane bearing 'Cobham' title inlaid with green enamel across the wing, the reverse with maker's details "H.W.Miller Ltd Branston St B'Ham.18" and "Regd 755555" a design and patent date of 1930. These badges were sold as commemorative souvenirs, also given away with the song sheet, of the very popular tune at that time "Amy Wonderful Amy". They came in three colours, yellow being the scarcer and were made by Miller, 118 Branston St, B'ham. Remains in good condition, original pin fittings, no chips to the enamel, but with two stress lines between the A and M.
